How does a consultation work, and is it really free?

Yes — every consultation is complimentary. You can visit us in one of our showrooms (Calgary or Edmonton), book a virtual meeting, or have us come to your home. We measure, discuss functional needs (light, privacy, motorization), walk through fabric and product samples, and give you a detailed, itemized quote. No pressure, no obligation.

What is the typical timeline from quote to install?

Most orders are ready for installation 4 – 6 weeks after you approve the quote. Custom drapery, specialty fabrics, or exterior products can take 6 – 10 weeks. We will always give you a realistic timeline in writing before you commit.

Do you have showroom pricing posted online?

We do not publish prices publicly because every project is unique — fabric, size, stacking, motorization, mounting, and install all affect the final number. After your consultation we provide a detailed written quote so you can compare line by line.

Question 4

Which brands and products do you carry?

Accepted Answer

We are an authorized dealer for Hunter Douglas, Graber, Maxxmar, Somfy (Expert-certified for motorization), and several premium drapery-hardware suppliers. We also custom-fabricate drapery, Roman shades, and wallcoverings in-house — so we are not limited to catalog options.

How do motorized blinds work with a smart home?

Our motorization is built around the Somfy platform and integrates with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, Control4, Crestron, and Josh.ai. We can run everything from a single wall remote, a phone app, voice, or automated scenes based on sun position, time of day, or temperature.

Can I get a quote without installation?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we offer supply-only for trade partners and for clients who have their own installer. We will measure (or review your measurements), recommend products, and deliver. For supply-and-install, we handle measuring, fabrication, install, and warranty under one roof.

Question 7

What kind of warranty do you offer?

Accepted Answer

All products carry the manufacturer warranty (typically 3 – 25 years depending on the product). Our installation workmanship is warranted for as long as you own the product. If something goes wrong, you call us — not the manufacturer.

Do you service outside Calgary and Edmonton?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our two full showrooms are in Calgary and Edmonton, and we have by-appointment service in Red Deer and Port Coquitlam, BC. We regularly install across Alberta and BC, and for larger trade projects we travel further. Just ask when you book.

Can you help with a single room, or do I need to do my whole home?

Either is welcome. Many clients start with the rooms that matter most (living room, primary bedroom, media room) and phase the rest over time. We keep your project on file so phase two is seamless.

What is Graphiq?

Graphiq is our in-house visualization and design studio. We produce 3D architectural renderings, residential design drawings, and interior documentation for architects, designers, builders, and homeowners. You can submit a project brief at /graphiq/brief.

I am a builder or designer — do you have a trade program?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our trade program includes dedicated account management, preferred pricing, fast-track quoting, and support on tradeshow and model-home projects. See /trade or email customers@sonatadesign.ca to open an account.
